If you’re reading this, you probably already know about 4/20, but have you heard of the newer cannabis holiday called 7/10? Get ready to fire up the dab rig and celebrate concentrates on this (and every) July 10th!
Like 4/20, 7/10 is a stoner holiday that gives us a chance to appreciate everything that cannabis means to us. While 4/20 celebrates cannabis in general, 7/10 is a day specifically dedicated to concentrates and oils. Concentrate fans may celebrate 7/10 by dabbing at 7:10 AM and/or 7:10 PM on July 10th. However, many people like to make it an all-day event because… why not?
The backstory of 7/10 is murky at best, but most simply put, when you flip the number 710 upside down (picture a calculator or digital clock), it looks just like the word ‘oil’.
Some say that the term ‘710’ first appeared on Urban Dictionary back in 2010, but that’s hard to verify. What we do know for sure is that the term first broke into the mainstream in July of 2013, when LA Weekly ran an article titled ‘710 is the new 420’ and when the first-ever 710 Cup was held in Denver to celebrate concentrates and concentrate producers.
If you’ve never heard of 7/10, you’re not alone. While 4/20 has been around for decades, 7/10 is less than 10 years old, and has only become more mainstream in the last few years. As cannabis continues to be destigmatized and concentrates become an increasingly popular format, we look forward to 710 growing into another widely known holiday in celebration of our favorite plant.
Whether you’re new to cannabis concentrates or an experienced dabber, don’t miss out on celebrating 710 this year! The Fluresh store in Grand Rapids has stacked its menu with some of the best concentrates and extracts Michigan has to offer and our cannabis advisors are here to help you discover the right option for your needs.
Celebrating for the first time? You don’t need to invest in a dab rig to take part in the holiday.
Vape pens are the simplest and most convenient way to enjoy cannabis concentrates. They’re also the perfect way for those new to concentrates to start celebrating 7/10. All you need is a vape cartridge (also called a “cart”) and battery. If that’s still too complicated, you can even get an all-in-one vape pen, which is often disposable.
While vaping is unlikely to get you as high as a dabing, the high does set in almost immediately so there’s little to no waiting to feel an effect. Similar to dabs, you can opt for a live resin variety if you’re seeking a more flavorful oil that retains the strain’s natural terpene profile. If you’re looking for the most affordable choice, distillate vapes are the way to go and pack in a lot of value for the price point.
Crumble, one of the most malleable and user-friendly concentrates, is great for beginners looking to up their game or try something new. If you’d like to start dabbling in concentrates, but aren’t ready to invest in a dab rig or torch, you can simply sprinkle crumble over a bowl, blunt or joint to enhance your high.
Not your first dab? There are many different kinds of concentrates for experienced dabbers so why not try out something new this 7/10? Between budder, shatter, wax, THCa crystals, and diamonds and sauce, most of which can be live or cured, the variety of concentrate and extracts to experiment with is almost endless. Check out our store menu for a range of top-notch concentrates including our own sugar, badder and crumble.
Live resin and rosin are great for those who love flavorful dabs. Loaded with terpenes, live resin and rosin extracts are some of the tastiest and most aromatic concentrates around. Moreover, these extracts are the perfect choice for dabbing from dab rigs, since rigs tend to produce smoother and more flavorful hits than wax pens or vaporizers.
Last but not least, 710 can be the perfect time to up your equipment. Convenient, electric dab rigs are becoming increasingly popular, but can run you a couple hundred bucks. 710 is a great time to look for sales on pricey brands with cult followings like PuffCo.
